The Gastroenterology and hepatology Department offers up-to-date evidence based treatment for patients suffering from various Gastrointestinal, Liver, Pancreas and Biliary system related disorders.

The department is well equipped with Video Gastroscope, colonoscope, duodenoscope and endoscopic ultrasound scope.

  • Viral & Auto immune hepatitis
  • Pre liver transplant assessment and post transplant management
  • Liver cancer
  • Non alcoholic fatty liver disease

  • Inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis and crohn's disease)

Besides dignostic UGI & colonoscopy following therapeutic endoscopy procedures are performed :

  • Control of gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Dilatation of oesophageal, pyloric, colonic and anastomotic strictures
  • Placement of stent in oesophagus, duodenum and colon
  • Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG)
  • Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy with Jejunal extension (PEG-J)
  • Removal of foreign bodies
  • Endoscopic Polypectomy
  • Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR) of pre or early cancerous lesions in GI tract

Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography (ERCP)

  • Removal of stones from Bile duct and Pancreatic duct

  • Management of biliary, pancreatic and anastomotic stricture

Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)

  • Staging of oesophageal and pancreatic cancer
  • Assessment of gall bladder and bile duct for microlithiasis (very small stones)
  • Pancreas gland assessment for chronic pancreatitis, cysts or other lesions
  • EUS guided Fine needle aspiration/biopsy of lesions in pancreas gland, mediastinal lymph gland and submucosal lesions
  • EUS guided celiac plexus block/neurolysis for pain related to chronic pancreatitis/pancreatic cancer 
  • EUS guided drainage of pancreatic pseudocyst
